Canadians are generally unaware of the significant place that blackface has in Canadian history, misunderstanding it as a uniquely American phenomenon. The timeline on this page, though not exhaustive, lists incidents of blackface that have occurred in Canada over the years. It demonstrates the prevalence of blackface across the country, historically and in the present.
