It StARTS with Arts - Careers in Media and Advertising in the North American Landscape
An intimate talk for students, hosted in the CaPS Library, with McGill Alumnae Kelly Elarbee, BA Poli Sci, President of Elarbee Media. This talk will cover careers in media and advertising in the North American landscape and how a BA can offer an adventurous twist.
After over 20 years in the media industry, you can get complacent. Clients change, staff changes, and the industry changes around you. Even so, sometimes you need to embrace a new adventure. For us, Media is that adventure. We are keeping the best assets from a 20 year history in advertising, from relationships to knowledge. We are also adding some new twists, like full integration and a more hands on approach to client marketing strategies. What do we get out of it? A more intimate client experience that does not limit either scale or growth, for us or for our clients.
Speaker Bio: Kelly Elarbee is a 1991 McGill Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After graduating McGill, Kelly moved to London, UK to complete her MBA. Upon returning to the United States in 1993, she moved to Atlanta, GA where she immediately began working in the political consulting arena during the historic 1994 election cycle. Politics offered a natural transition to advertising, and Kelly has since been in the advertising industry, focused on direct response and measureable ROI. In 1996 Kelly joined a fledgling agency called Echo Media, of which she then became Partner and Acting President. In 2013, she left Echo Media to start her own firm, Elarbee Media, focusing on the needs of clients seeking a more integrated approach.
