The Advanced Policy Analyst Program (APAP) is a two-year training program consisting in four six-months placements in each of the federal government’s three central agencies and in a line department. The objective of the program is to train highly qualified people to become policy leaders in the government of Canada. The development program gives recruits the opportunity to experiment first-hand the functioning of government and to learn the role of each central agency (Finance Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat, Privy Council Office) and of line departments in the design and implementation of public policy. Applicants must have recently obtained or be about to obtain a Master's degree from a recognized university in any discipline, and have completed a number of economics courses. APAP, created over 20 years ago, has an excellent reputation within the federal government and count over 250 graduates.
