Effectively Leading and Managing Change

Wednesday, February 7, 2024 14:00to16:00

(online session)

(Recommended for Supervisors)

This workshop emphasizes the importance of the people side of change and how it can be woven in meaningful ways into priorities, workplans, tasks and day-to-day interactions. Understanding change means better managing ourselves and our team members, and equipping ourselves for the long-haul. Change remains a constant. Health and productivity hinge on our ability to befriend change while maintaining a sense of realistic control, choice, and purposefulness. Change Management is not an add-on, but an inherent part of the vital knowledge and skills we need as managers in supporting our teams through planned and unplanned change. At McGill, Change Agility is one of the 7 Behavioral Competencies for M's.

In this two hours session, you will:

  • Learn more about how change and transition work and how you as a Manager/Supervisor can introduce and respond effectively to employees, accompanying teams through change processes.
  • Explore the particular dynamics of resistance to change and learn techniques to manage difficult employee situations that may arise.
  • Gain concepts and tools to enable high performance and prevent burn-out during periods of change.
