Claudia Mitchell has co-edited a new book:Disrupting Shameful Legacies: Girls and Young Women Speaking Back through the Arts to Address Sexual Violence (Brill Publishers). The book is co-edited with Relebohile Moletsane of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. The book is now available online through Brill.

Artist-in-Residence Lou Sheppard is hoping to connect with students, faculty and staff in the faculty who speak languages other than English. They are collecting words that don’t have an English translation, as well as a brief attempt to describe what these words mean. Jayne Malenfant is a doctoral student in the Faculty of Education and she has earned two of Canada’s most prestigious awards for graduate students – a Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship and a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. That all might come as a surprise to some of the people who knew her in high school – especially if they remember that Malenfant was expelled from the school.
The Mohawk community of Kahnawà:ke and McGill launched the first-ever Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) First Nations and Inuit Education (FNIE) program to be given in the community of Kahnawà:ke, on August 20.
It’s a labour of love between McGill’s Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) in the Faculty of Education, and the Kahnawà:ke Education Centre (KEC). It’s also in line with McGill’s Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Education.
