MONTREAL -- A very specific milestone passed recently, unnoticed except by those who happened to read a tweet by John Robert Sylliboy on Tuesday.
“I have goosebumps,” he wrote.
On this day of Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the tragedies that occurred at the residential schools and we are reminded that every child matters. As the Dean of the Faculty of Education, I am averse to calling those institutions “schools”. Schools are a place to advance learning, to open one’s mind to new ideas and diverse opinions; to mentor and collaborate with each child so they become the best they can be throughout their lives. Schools are where we better ourselves through insightful human relations, collaborations and nurturing mentorships.

Andréanne Langevin (DISE, MA SLE) was interviewed by Global News TV regarding her study of parents' opinions on Quebec's school language(s) of instruction and school choice.
The study involved a series of focus groups with 44 parents from across the province. The segment highlighted parents' opinions on the quality of second language education in the province and their desire for bilingualism for their children.
These findings are timely due to Bill 96, a proposed language policy bill that would extend restrictions on school language choice to CEGEPs.
