How to book an appointment
1. Current cogsci students
For students who have declared the cogsci major or minor (or U0 B.A. & Sc. students intending to declare cogsci)
- Course planning workshop

- For returning students (U0/U1) looking for help with how to plan their cogsci courses
- Hosted by SACS and Cogsci Program Advisor.
- Come meet other cogsci students who will share their tips and advice.

- Appointments available throughout the year
- In-person advising (20 min): Wednesday-Friday (NEW LOCATION: Adams building, room 23)
- Zoom advising (20 min): Monday-Tuesday

- If your questions are not related to Fall 2026-Winter 2027 course planning, then please wait and book a meeting later in June or July.

- These sessions are for quick questions, this is a good way to get quick answers instead of sending an email which will have a delayed response.
- This is only for students that have already met with Liana in the past. If you have never had a one on one advising appointment please DO NOT join the drop-in session.
- Students do not need to sign up ahead, simply join the waiting room and wait to be admitted. Students are admitted in the order they arrive.

2. McGill students who are NOT currently in the B.A. & Sc. degree
For students from other degrees that are interested in declaring cogsci (major or minor)
- Before booking an appointment please review the following:
- Consult the inter-faculty transfer (IFT) requirements for the BA & Sc degree. Most of your questions will be answered there, or should be directed to the IFT contact before seeing the Cognitive Science advisor.

- Appointments are done via Zoom (20 minutes)
- Availability will vary throughout the year

3. Newly admitted students
Students that have recently been accepted to McGill and will be enrolling this Fall semester
- Pre-registration group advising sessions will be offered just before registration begins, usually in June.
- Individual advising will be available throughout the summer, see info above to book an appointment.
- Fall New Student Orientation; a group orientation session will be offered end of August each year.

4. Non-McGill students
For non-McGill students interested in applying to McGill, or for current applicants still waiting for an offer of admission
- Before requesting an appointment, please consult the undergraduate admissions requirements to ensure that you are eligible for the BA & Sc degree program.
- All questions related to admission and applying to McGill should be directed to Admissions and cannot be answered by the Cognitive Science advisor.
- If your questions are about the cognitive science specifically, and not related to admissions, please send an email to advisor.science [at] mcgill.ca (advisor[dot]science[at]mcgill[dot]ca) to book an appointment. Include a list of questions you have about the Cognitive Science program. You'll be given a link to a Bookings page to schedule an appointment or you will receive a reply via email.
