Expectations for course applicants prior to enrolling

  • Applicants are asked to attend all mandatory orientation sessions relevant to this program and traveling to Israel. 
  • Applicants are asked to provide a course professor or course coordinator with a scanned copy of their current passport(s) from all countries where they have citizenship status.
  • Applicants are asked to permit McGill University and partnering organizations to publish their name and photo in a reasonable manner in both educational and promotional materials related to the course.
  • Applicants must not have graduated from McGill University prior to the start of the study trip.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or over at the start of the study trip.
  • Applicants will pay their tuition fee for this course by the McGill University fee deadline.
  • Applicants are solely responsible for determining if they require a visa to travel to Israel and for obtaining the necessary visa. If a visa is necessary, applicants will provide proof to a course professor/coordinator that they have obtained a visa.
  • Applicants must understand that enrolling in this course incurs a non-refundable $1796.20 course fee. This fee is the student's contribution to the costs of the trip. The trip is sponsored in-part by external funds, and includes round-trip air travel to Israel, travel and lodging within Israel, company visits and tours, and selected meals. Most dinners and lunches are the responsibility of the student.
  • Applicants must understand that they will not be enrolled in this study trip until they have been offered enrollment by a course professor/coordinator AND until they have confirmed in writing their desire to be enrolled in this study trip.

What are you responsible for?

The program will cover the costs of
  • Return airfare, Tel Aviv, Israel to/from Montreal, Canada
  • Ground transportation for cultural and touristic activities in Canada and Israel
  • Away-from-home accommodations throughout field course
  • Most meals during the field course
  • Travel Insurance
You will cover the costs of
  • Obtaining the proper documentation to travel & remain in Israel (e.g., passport, visas, etc.)
  • Any sightseeing, trips, entertainment or activities not included in the itinerary that you choose to pursue
  • Some meals and snacks
  • Tuition costs for the course (6 credits)
  • A non-refundable deposit of CAD$1796.20 that must be submitted upon acceptance of offer
How many students can participate?

We can accept only 18 McGill to participate each summer.

What happens if I am accepted?
  • You must pay the CAD$1796.20 deposit to secure your spot in the program. Unsecured spots will be passed on to students on the waiting list.
  • You will complete the necessary paperwork for participation.
  • You will agree to participate fully in both the Canadian and Israeli activities during the course.
  • You will collaborate with Israeli students to learn about entrepreneurship and startups in Canada and Israel.
  • You will complete a group project showcasing your learning during the experience.
  • You may be asked to act as an ambassador and representative for the program in subsequent years (e.g., occasional guest speaker to student groups, post-trip feedback).
What if I do not meet all of the eligibility criteria?

We will consider all applicants, but will prioritize on eligibility and other criteria if we are over-subscribed. Please note that the Political Science Department in the Arts Faculty is developing a similar study trip in Israel for the summer. You can apply to both!
