About DGFRC / Members

The emergence of Montreal as an International Centre, the entry of NASDAQ in Montreal, the development of the Institut de Finance Mathématique de Montréal and the increasing importance of issues related to stakeholder value in corporate finance have had a major impact on the research activities of the Centre. What sets apart the Desmarais Global Finance Centre from the existing Centres/Institutes is the emphasis on exchange of knowledge between academia and the financial community. The resulting interactions will benefit all participants.

The Centre seeks to promote advances in knowledge about domestic and international financial markets and improvements in the financial efficiency of corporations. This mission is fulfilled by developing research programs which address current issues confronting investors and organizations operating in a rapidly changing financial environment. The Centre provides a dynamic environment for the development of faculty and Ph.D. students in finance. It also constitutes a focal point for practitioners and academicians by organizing seminars and conferences on issues of interest in financial economics.
