Prof. Bowen Zhou presents "Children’s World and the Creation of Children’s Literature in Modern China"

Thursday, November 12, 2020 16:00to17:30
To be hosted on Zoom

Children’s World, the first journal to publish Children’s Literature in vernacular Chinese, has played a positive role in promoting children’s literature in Modern China. By publishing various types of children's literature (myths, fables, fiction, fairy tales, poetry, fantasy, plays, picture stories, etc.) both by Chinese and foreign writers, as well as by children themselves, this journal ushered in the era of Children's Literature Creation in modern China. This talk will explore the relationship between Children’s World and the engendering of Chinese Children's Literature. It will also discuss the significance of Children’s World in the history of Modern Chinese children's literature.
