From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Award Announcement: KPE Recipients of McGill Sports Science Fellowships

Congratulations to our awardees of the first round of the McGill Sports Science Fellowships!

These four students are being awarded fellowships to support their research projects outlined below:

Master’s Awards (2-year):

Ms. Maxymme Begin (Supervisor Dr. Julie Côté): Sex-specific effects of muscle fatigue on knee biomechanical factors related to running injury risk in healthy young adults

Ms. Gabrielle Thibault (Supervisor Dr. David Pearsall): Monitoring of long distance runners’ technique in laboratory and outdoor environments

PhD Award (3-year):

Ms Gleydciane Alexandre Fernandes (Supervisor Dr. Caroline Paquette): Can TMS improve performance in endurance running athletes?

Post Doc Award (2-year):

Mr. Amir Hadid (Supervisor Dr. Dennis Jensen): Is it a good day for exercise?

Each student will be conducting in-depth sports science projects within their research fields. Sports science is a new research initiative within the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, which aims to improve sport performance by answering research questions that arise in the sporting community.
