Target Audience: All staff and students required to handle and/or store biohazardous materials or bloodborne pathogens should follow this course.
Training: McGill students, staff and faculty can complete the online course and exam using the EHS Safety Training System - Web Training. Non-McGill student registrants please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form.
Certification: A certificate is presented to participants who successfully complete the online exam. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years.
Content: Introduction to Biosafety consists of 6 modules covering the following topics:
- Module 1: General Overview of Biosafety
- Module 2: Regulatory Requirements
- Module 3: Risk Assessment
- Module 4: Risk Mitigation
- Module 5: Sterilization & Disinfection
- Module 6: Administration & Documentation
Duration: 2.5 hours (excluding online examination time)
Cost (McGill): Free for the McGill Community (students, staff and faculty).
Cost (Non-McGill): $50 (if paid by PI); $150.00 per person plus applicable taxes for other payment methods.
