The 2023 Reynolds Artist-in-Residence is lamathilde!
Lamathilde is a video-sound-performance artist. Her work investigates identity through sexuality and gender using low-grade video, super 8, manipulated film footage and stop-motion animation. Sound is at the core of her practice. Her work has been shown in many galleries and international festivals, including Pink Screens – Brussels, Festival des films gais et lesbiens – Paris, London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival , Mix Festival – New York, and as well as in Germany, Italy, Holland, Philippines, Canada, Slovenia, Australia, Lebanon.
Born in France, Lamathilde lives and works in Montreal. She was part of the sound-performance collective WWKA,(2004-2012) has hosted a radio show for 5 years and is an active member of the Montreal visual arts scene.

The Department of English is hosting a screening and artist talk with lamathilde, in conversation with Professor Alanna Thain and Postdocs Philippe Bédard and Dayna McLeod.

The Workshop
Arte Video Povera and DIY Self-Portraiture: How to tell stories through images without professional equipment
This is a DIY experimental video production workshop focused on creating DIY self-portraiture through cellphones and free software. The goal is to develop simple tools for media creation, and produce and share finished work in a collaborative and engaged atmosphere.
Dates: Two weekends: January 28-29 and February 11-12, 11am-4pm, every day. You must be able to attend all sessions, and need to bring a device you can record with, such as a cellphone.
