Stewart Biology: South and North Blocks Now Open

Published: 28 February 2023

After extensive cleaning and air-testing, we are pleased to announce that the South Block of the Stewart Biology Building is safe for use and is open effective immediately. This follows the re-opening of the North Block last week.

All in-person teaching, research, administrative work and other activities in the South Block may resume as of tomorrow.

As with the North Block, the decision to re-open the South Block follows a series of tests which confirm that the air complies with both Quebec government safety standards and McGill’s own more stringent standards. For more information, please consult this FAQ or join us at the upcoming Stewart Biology Town Hall, which will be scheduled shortly.

With the Stewart Biology Building now fully reopened, we take this final opportunity to express our gratitude for your patience and understanding throughout these difficult weeks. As we worked toward this reopening, we knew all too well that each day of closure meant an additional impact on teaching, research and other important activities. We worked as quickly as possible while not compromising the safety of our community. Thank you for bearing with us as we worked to prepare the building for a safe re-entry.

Denis Mondou,
Associate Vice-Principal, Facilities Management and Ancillary Services, on behalf of the Emergency Operations Centre
