The McGill COPC Committee

The McGill Community Oriented Primary Care (COPC) Committee is based at St Mary’s Hospital Family Medicine Centre and is chaired by Dr Anne Andermann (public health physician and family doctor). Committee members include: Dr Alan Pavilanis, Dr Maureen Doyle, Dr Mark Yaffe, Dr Donald Sproule, Dr Maureen Rappaport, Dr Laura Haiek, Dr Isabelle Leblanc and Dr Renata Sava. The committee is responsible for organizing the Annual Community Orientation which is a common core teaching session for all incoming family medicine residents at the urban training sites, as well as for providing ongoing teaching throughout the year on how to partner with resources in the community to provide improved social support and services for patients and families. The COPC committee also encourages residents to engage in reducing health inequities through advocacy and action ranging from community based primary health care to global health initiatives by promoting opportunities for COPC-related research and community-based electives.
