E. David Sherman Award in Geriatric Medicine

About the E. David Sherman Award

Since 2004, E. David Sherman Award in Geriatric Medicine has been awarded to the most outstanding student in the field of clinical geriatric medicine. The award is presented in the form of a monetary prize.

The prize is awarded based on the evaluation of the Geriatric Medicine clerkship. Candidates are nominated, the nominees' performance is evaluated, and a winner is selected. The winners are announced following the Committee on Student Promotions and Curricular Outcomes' approval of the final graduation list in May each year.

Nomination Process

Students from each clinical site – Gatineau, St. Mary’s Hospital, the McGill University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital – are eligible for the prize.

At the end of the senior clerkship period, the site coordinators nominate two of their most outstanding clerkship students during the academic year. Nominations are based on clinical performance.
