The Health Psychology Research Group is currently inviting individuals diagnosed with cancer and/or their spouse/partner to participate in Phase 3 of the 'Couples Coping Project'.

The Couples Coping Project

Throughout our work, we are constantly reminded of the impact a cancer diagnosis has on the whole family.  We are also aware of the impact intimate relationships have on the lives of individuals, especially during times of stress.

If you are an individual diagnosed with cancer who is involved in an intimate relationship (i.e. dating, married, cohabiting, common-law), you and/or your partner may be able to participate in this project.  Our research is focused on developing and testing a measure to assess how couples cope with cancer.

Participation in ‘The Couples Coping Project’ involves the completion of an online survey.  It is anticipated that complete participation will take approximately 30-60 minutes.  You and your partner may each complete a survey or you may choose to participate alone.

You are eligible to participate in this research if each of the below statements are true for you:

  • I (or my spouse/partner) was diagnosed with cancer within the past 2 years
  • I am involved in a committed intimate relationship of at least 1 year (e.g., dating, common law, married)
  • I am able to read and comprehend English
  • I am 18 years or age or older
