Rotation structure

Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU)

  • The CTU model is the same at all three sites, consisting of an attending physician, one to two senior residents, two to three junior residents and two medical students.
  • Each site has focused CTU experiences but all ensure a strong exposure to general Internal Medicine.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) /Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CCU)

  • Residents gain exposure to different ICU/CCU settings by rotating at all three sites. Each critical care team is generally comprised of an attending physician, clinical fellow and various combinations of junior and senior residents from multiple programs including Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine and General Surgery.

General Internal Medicine Consult Service in ER (ERC)

  • One of the most popular rotations, the ER consults service gives the residents the opportunity to assess patients in an emergency room setting. Under the supervision of an attending staff and senior resident, junior residents work either the day or evening shifts while working up and managing patients until they are admitted to the ward.
