Program Outline


The McGill University Internal Medicine Residency Training Program is based at three major teaching centres on the island of Montreal. Each year residents will rotate across all the base hospital sites during their training, including:

  • 12-20 weeks in the Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) and General Internal Medicine Consultation Service in ER (ERC) each year
  • 4 weeks of ICU per year
  • 4 weeks of CCU per year
  • 4 weeks of ambulatory clinic per year in PGY2 and PGY3 only
  • 2-4 weeks of Night Float per year
  • Residents are free to do selectives and electives at any of the McGill training sites
  • Scholarly activity projects/research can be done with any supervisor within the Department of Medicine at McGill - dedicated research time is available
  • Residents will do 1 community-based rotation in their PGY2 year
