External Funding - Current Students

Fall, 2023

As a reminder, all Doctoral students are required to apply for at least one federal and one provincial award each year they are eligible. Master’s students are also strongly encouraged to apply for all external awards for which they are eligible.

Several information sessions on federal and provincial award programs are held during Discover McGill Grad Orientation week. Presentation materials (slides and audio recordings) will be available for students who may miss a session, or who would like to consult the presentation again, on the Fellowship Information Sessions page:

Fonds de Recherche du Québec-Santé (FRQ-S)

New this year, all students admitted for Fall 2023 are eligible to apply, as per the FRQ Common General Rules. If you are a Master or Doctoral student who has applied for this award, please fill out this form.

NEW: French abstract translation support for all doctoral applicants:
• As per FRQ competition guidelines, the project title and abstract must be provided in French, while supporting documents (including project proposal) may be submitted in English.
• The lay abstract should be written in a language that can be understood by the public. It can be prepared well in advance of the project proposal.
• GPS will provide a translation service to all doctoral applicants. To benefit from this service, the English title and abstract must be received by the dates indicated in the submission instructions.
• GPS has compiled a list of recommendations for students writing their abstract in English. It is important to start the process early to leave sufficient time for translation and translation review.
