Guest WiFi at McGill

We all have data plans for our wireless devices, but increasingly we expect to have access to the web when we are on the go – at the mall, the airport, or while sipping a cappuccino at the local coffee shop.  McGill is now pleased to offer guest WiFi access to all short-term visitors: parents, friends, etc.

As an extension of our existing wireless service, guest WiFi provides Internet access across both campuses, residences, and the Gault Nature Reserve, so our guests will never miss a beat – be it memes or meetings.

Connecting is as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Select guest.mcgill.ca from the wireless networks on your device.
  2. Accept the terms of use.
  3. Choose your preferred access method:
    • Self-register for guest credentials OR
    • Log in with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)

NOTE:  Access expires after 24 hours, however guests may reconnect after 24 hours using the same method.

Benefits to McGill students, faculty, and staff

If your guests simply need access to the Internet there is no need to submit a request to the IT Service Desk for a sponsored account.  This not only simplifies the process for you and your guests, it also reduces overhead.

Benefits to guests

Guests can take advantage of self-service, immediate Internet access anywhere McGill WiFi is supported.  They will also save on expensive data charges, especially those visiting from out of town.

Bottom line

Guest WiFi is not only a crowd-pleaser, it provides increased security for all.
