Ludmer Centre Seed Fund Grant

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Ludmer Centre Seed Fund Grant (SFG), presented by the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics and Mental Health. To be considered for the Ludmer Centre SFG, the proposed project must focus on Single-cell genomics research, or Neuroinformatics and Mental Health. The SFG is intended to support innovative approaches that will provide answers within a 12-month timeframe. The research must be conducted in full or partially at McGill University.

Summary

To be considered for the Ludmer Centre SFG, candidates must submit the following: 

  • Abstract and project description;
  • Proposed research activities; 
  • Primary deliverables within the 12 month timeframe;
  • Summary of background research on the topic;
  • CV of the applicant and any co-applicants;
  • Maximum budget proposed: ≤ $50,000.  

The budget proposed can be for the following eligible costs: 

  • Salary support for trainees and research personnel (includes benefits);
  • Materials and supplies (consumables); 
  • Core or platform fees for project-related samples or data; 
  • Small equipment up to $5,000 total per project; 
  • Appropriately justified project-related travel. 

The total funds available for researchers in this granting round of are: 

  • $50,000 for projects pertaining to the Single-Cell Genomics area (Accelerator Fund); 
  • $140,000 for projects towards Neuroinformatics and Mental Health (Heritage Fund). 

Please note that there is no acceptable overhead component to the Ludmer SFG. All the awarded funds are to be directed towards eligible costs, and unused funds are to be returned to the Ludmer Centre. These sums are dividable and the number of SFG available is dependent on the awarded projects and the proposed total budget of each awarded proposal. Upon the completion of the SFG period, the awardee is required to submit a report of the project, as well as the allocation of the funds.  

These awards are open to all McGill University Principal Investigators and their collaborators, regardless of their affiliation with the Ludmer Centre. The grant can be held at any of the McGill University departments or the Ludmer Centre’s partner institutions.
