Scientific tools

In our research work we use a variety of molecular, cellular, histological and immunological tools.

	PCR based molecular markers – microsatellite markers, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) and restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP).		Sanger DNA sequencing is done using Applied Biosystem's 3730xl DNA Analyzer. We routinely do molecular cloning, and vector construction.
	Expression studies and SNP genotyping using qRT-PCR on an ABI 7500 real-time PCR system.		Immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridisation and fluorescence imaging.
	Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) using a BD Biosciences LSR II four-laser cell sorting system.		We use Flexivent for investigation of respirator mechanics.
	Multiplex immunoassays on a BioRad BioPlex 200 system.		Bioinformatics: GWAS, QWAS, QTL analysis, pathway analysis, microarray analysis.
