Approach to Throat Clearing

Dr Marco Mascarella received his medical degree from McGill University and later completed his otolaryngology residency training at McGill University in 2020. During that time, he completed a Master’s degree in Epidemiology. Following his residency, Dr Mascarella completed a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in head and neck oncology with microvascular reconstruction. He will be joining the Department of Otolaryngology at McGill University with a clinical practice at the MUHC and Jewish General Hospital. He will also be appointed as a research investigator.

What am I looking at? The Abnormal Otoscope Exam

Dr. Schloss is a Professor Emeritus in Otolaryngology, head and neck surgery and pediatric surgery. He was Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at McGill University from 1989 to 2002. He was the director of the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology in Montreal Children’s Hospital from 1976 to 2008. He was the President of the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology from 1989 to 1990.

Oral Lesions That Primary Practitioners Should Know

Dr. Peter J. Chauvin is a clinical specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry and Associate member in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University. He obtained his DDS from McGill University in 1988. In 1992, he completed training in General Pathology and Oral Pathology at Western University where he obtained his M.Sc. in Pathology. He has fellowships from the Royal College of Dentists in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. He has a clinical practice which is limited to mucosal disorders and diseases.

Earbuds: Precursor to Hearing Aids?

Dr Tamara Mijovic MD CM FRCSC is an assistant professor at the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at McGill University. Dr Mijovic specializes in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. Prior to joining the faculty at McGill, she graduated from the McGill Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency program in 2014. Dr Mijovic then pursued fellowship training in Otology and Neurotology at the University of British Columbia where she gained vast experience in specialized ear surgeries including Endoscopic Ear Surgery. Dr Mijovic then seeked complementary training in Paris in the field of pediatric vestibular disorders and is a researcher in this field as the head of the Montreal Childen’s Pediatric Dizziness clinic. Dr. Mijovic has received numerous awards and scholarships including the prestigious FRSQ (Fond de Recherche en Santé du Québec) research grant and the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology Fellowship Award. Dr. Mijovic’s research interests span a variety of hearing and balance disorders with a focus on mechanisms of vestibular compensation, autoimmune inner ear diseases and endoscopic ear surgery. She continues to attend and present her research at conferences locally, nationally and internationally. She lectures regularly to medical students, residents and physicians. She is the Co-organiser of the annual McGill Temporal Bone Course. She has a clinical practice at the Royal Victoria Hospital, the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the Jewish General Hospital as well in the community setting of Hôpital de Verdun.

Throat Cancer and HPV

Professor and chair, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Chief Otolaryngologist MUHC, Corector of McGill Head and Neck Cancer Program. Senior Investigator RI MUHC. His practice if focused on head and neck surgical oncology, thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He research is on new therapeutics for HPV positive oropharynegeal cancer and currently conducging a trial on this as lead investigator.
