ECO-CHALLENGE #1

ZERO-WASTE CHALLENGE

I heard about the Clean Bin Project a few months ago at one of thier movie screenings here at McGill. Great movie. I was inspired to do it myself and have been working on reducing my ec-footprint while maintianing an urban lifestyle ever since. Basically, the documentary centers around two people, Jen and Grant, who decide to take on the Zero-Waste challenge and attempt to reduce, even eliminate, the amount of garbage they produce that would go into landfills. They follow strict set of rules which include; no packaging, no buying stuff (material goods), and taking responsibility for the waste you produce. I figured this challenge was relevent to the MFSP's mission because it encourages people to become consious of thier impact on the envrionment and inevitably encourages people to explore local farmer's markets to reduce thier consumption of packaging. -- Lou
