Splatsin Tsm7aksáltn (Splatsin Teaching Centre) Society

The Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn (Splatsin Teaching Centre) Society has been offering affordable, quality childcare to children of the Splatsin First Nation and Enderby since 1990.

We were incorporated as a Society in 1992 and have been in Good Standing with the Registrar of Companies since incorporation.

We are a non-profit society who is governed by a Board of 9 Directors. The Board is community driven and is comprised of volunteers from parents to professionals. The Board meets once a month to oversee operations, fundraising and finances of our society. We also have a yearly AGM in June where the executive is elected and any changes to our constitution and bylaw are made. We have a chartered general accountant who takes care of our finances and a year-end financial statement by KPMG. We operate our centre with the support of and on behalf of the Splatsin First Nation for the benefit of our community members.

Over the years our centre has evolved from caring for 15 children in 1992 to 32 children in 1999. We then added an Out of School Care Program in 2004 and were able to care for 47 children. In 2008, we did a major capital renovation and addition and are now licensed to care for 64 children. We are the only early childhood development program at Splatsin and the only licensed group childcare facility in Enderby.

From 1998 to 2010 – we have had over 350 children from the Splatsin First Nation and Enderby area come through our doors. For the past twenty years, we have provided a much needed service for our communities.
