Co-op Job Offer Letter

Employer Responsibilities

The employer must provide an official job offer letter to the student that includes the following details:

  • The job position title;
  • Address of work;
  • Start and end dates of work (13-16 weeks for the 4 month internship or 26-32 weeks for the 8 month work term);
  • Hours per week (standard is 35-40);
  • Name of supervisor; and
  • Rate of pay per hour or month.

A copy of the offer letter must also be e-mailed to the miningcoop.minmat [at] mcgill.ca (Mining Co-op Office).

Student Responsibilities

It is expected that the student will:

  • Sign and return the letter to the company prior to the start of the co-op work term;
  • Submit a copy of the signed offer letter to the Mining Co-op Office to ensure that the employment meets the co-op program's criteria of relevant experience (once the Mining Co-op Office receives a copy of the signed co-op job offer letter from the student, the student will be cleared for registration in the appropriate co-op course);
  • Register for the appropriate co-op course (i.e. MIME 290, MIME 291, MIME 392 or MIME 494).
