Admissions Process

The Department of Mining and Materials Engineering is fostering research excellence in various areas of the Materials Science and Engineering and Mining Engineering disciplines. The Department is an internationally recognized research-intensive hub, where students and scholars are partnering with industrial collaborators in pursuing exciting innovative research in state-of-the-art laboratories. The Department has extended the deadline for Domestic PhD student application for Fall 2020 admission.

Requirements

All degrees require English proficiency.

Graduate Diploma

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) or equivalent in a technical field.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 for entire undergraduate program or for 3.2/4.0 for the last two, full-time years in your undergraduate program

 Masters of Engineering (Project)

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) or equivalent in a technical field.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 for entire undergraduate program or for 3.2/4.0 for the last two, full-time years in your undergraduate program.

 Masters of Science (Thesis)

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.Eng. or B.Sc.) or equivalent in a technical field.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 for entire undergraduate program or for 3.2/4.0 for the last two, full-time years in your undergraduate program.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

  1. A minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0 in a Masters program and 3.0/4.0 for entire undergraduate program.
  2. Except in special cases for highly-qualified B.Sc. or B. Eng. degree holders, applicants should hold a Masters degree in a relevant field.

 


NOTE: The GRE is NOT a requirement for your application

 

 

How to apply

  1. Find a supervisor whose research interests you. Contact them and ask them if they are looking for graduate students. Please note that no student will be accepted into the program without a supervisor.
  2. Prepare your application

McGill calculates GPA’s using a formula specific to the grading practices of each country.
