Native Trees

There are approximately 40 species of trees which are native to the island of Montreal. These tree species have played an essential role in the making of our society and therefore each has a fascinating story to tell. Take every opportunity to learn about the tree species that have lived here through the ages, coevolving with other native flora and fauna into ecosystems that are well adapted to our climate. They represent our part of the world and favouring these species in our plantings to foster their relationship with local wildlife just makes sense. Some native tree species to remember.
