Division of Neurology

Members and Personnel

The Division of Neurology is composed of 4 full time neurologists. The neurologists are supported by 2 electrophysiology technicians, 1 administrative assistant and one administrative manager.

Clinical Activities

Members of the Division of Neurology provide outpatient clinic care in general neurology and in the following subspecialties: movement disorders, demyelinating diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, epilepsy, dementia, neurological complications of medical disease, neurological complications in pregnancy and neuro-ethics.

Members provide 24 hour per day Emergency Department consultation service as well as inpatient consultation service to the hospital coming from the following departments: internal medicine, surgery, oncology, obstetrics, family medicine, geriatrics and psychiatry.

The Division of Neurology operates a clinical electrophysiology unit and provides electrodiagnostic expertise and studies in electromyography (more than 1700 studies per year) and electroencephalography (more than 750 studies per year).

Research activities

The Division of Neurology members are active in post-stroke spasticity and clinical headache research.

Clinical teaching activities

Members of the Division of Neurology provide clinical teaching opportunities for medical students, off-service residents (family medicine, internal medicine, and geriatrics). Teaching is provided in outpatient neurology clinics as well as on the emergency department and inpatient neurology consultation service. The Division receives between 2-4 medical trainees per academic period usually (McGill or other university)

The Division of Neurology participates in the Royal College approved St. Mary's department of medicine academic rounds as well as the MNI rounds which are video-conferenced weekly.
