Biography: Hailing from the megapolis of Mumbai with a deep passion for earthquakes and rocks, Meghomita Das joined the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at McGill as a doctoral candidate in the Fall of 2019. While pursuing their love for rocks, their passion for equitable and inclusive academic ecosystems, and armed with a hefty knowledge of “where to get the best budget friendly meal in Montreal” and “how to survive a Montreal winter as a person hailing from a tropical country”, they found themselves deep diving into all things science communication related.

Over the last three years, they have worked as content developer for the Redpath Museum, a science writer for Temblor Earthquake news, as a workshop facilitator for SMOrES outreach club (Students of McGill Outreach for Earth Sciences), and as a science policy and equity advocate for Science & Policy Exchange and the geosciences community respectively. Now, they are bringing this passion and enthusiasm as a research assistant at the Office of Science Education with the ultimate goal of humanizing STEM by championing the diverse voices of STEM researchers at McGill.
