My fellowship in interventional Radiology at McGill was the best year of my life in spite of the pandemic. What I learnt on both a professional and personal level was beyond what I had dreamed of. It's a treasure that I will hold dearly for the rest of my life. McGill is family to me.

I have had the honour of being selected as a fellow into the McGill Musculoskeletal Radiology Program. Throughout my time, I have gained invaluable experience in elite level diagnostic and interventional MSK procedures, whilst always supported by the most professional yet humble radiologists and technologists, many of whom I now call family. An amazing life experience with amazing people in an amazing city. What more could you ask for?

Special thanks to Rehana, Marie-Helene, Matt, Tom and Adel.

I came to McGill University in 2018 as a neuroradiology fellow (2018/2019). I had the best ever experience in the Neuro department. I met awesome neuroradiologists including Dr Del Carpio and Dr Chankowsky. My fellowship director Dr Torres was a very wonderful person. I worked with Neurointervention staff at MNI including Dr Cortes and Dr Linnell. I did my research project with Dr Forghani. In 2020, I came back for my second fellowship in Breast Imaging. My program director Dr Theriault is the one of the most competent breast radiologists. She is a very compassionate and kind person. I would also mention very senior and highly experienced staff like Dr Kao and Dr Aldis. Dr Solorzano and Dr Pinel-Giroux were very kind and motivating. Dr Zhang supported me from day 1 and is very kind and considerate. I wanted to thank all faculty and staff members at McGill. If anyone contemplates a fellowship at McGill, they are most welcome to contact me.

I am a radiation oncology fellow. I have come from extremely far, from Egypt. What a fateful morning Sixteen years back, when my father died from cancer! As a kid, I wondered what cancer is. I came to have the best experience in the field with the cutting-edge practice and technology at McGill. I have learned a lot from the amazing experts in radiation oncology and now I treat cancer patients. I hope my father is proud of me! Thank you for having me here at McGill.

My Fellowship in Neurocritical Care at McGill provided a unique opportunity to work alongside leading experts in this rapidly growing field of medicine that are passionate about education and research.

The collegial atmosphere here at the Neuro has been truly excellent. Many ex-fellows around the globe continue to keep strong academic connections to the program until today and I am eager to follow suit.

I was excited to do the Advanced drug allergy fellowship at McGill University Healthcare Centers; the program provided valuable challenging cases where it involved me in assessment and treatment. Combining the basics of allergy with real clinical cases is enlightening for me.

My experience at McGill has been nothing short of amazing! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to start on time for my fellowship. I’m grateful that the ENT department and mentors waited and kept the spot for me. I’ve learned a lot from the wide variety of surgical cases and I’m thankful for the guidance and the doors of opportunity my mentors have opened for me, to advance in my career.

I did my Plastic Surgery Residency training in McGill, and I couldn’t be happier doing my Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship in the same place with the same family. The team spirit and diverse environment I enjoyed during my time in McGill is a unique experience that I was privileged to be part of. Living in the charming city of Montreal was nothing but a delight as I enjoyed its rich culture and breath-taking nature. Special Thanks to my fellowship mentors, Dr. Lessard (the Craniofacial Fellowship Director), Dr. Gilardino (the division’s chief), and to Dr. Thibaudeau (the residency program director), for creating the remarkable warm and caring environment that our division is renowned for.

My EEG/Epilepsy fellowship program (pediatric) at McGill University provided me with a great opportunity to work with exceptional mentors with different training backgrounds in the field of EEG/Epilepsy.

It allowed me to grow clinically and in research. The team was very friendly and professional and always eager to teach and support. I would like to thank the staffs, EEG technicians, secretaries, the patients and their families, my family, and my 2 directors of this program for this opportunity.

It was a difficult year on us with the Covid-19 and the pandemic affecting the world but as they say training is an investment, and I got the best training in the field of sport orthopedic surgery, with more than 2000 elective cases per year, my mentors for my fellowship were the best teacher's I have ever had, thank you McGill.

Since the first day of my training, the staff made me feel part of the team and there hasn´t been a day when I haven´t learned something new from them. On the other hand, the facilities and resources for academic and clinical development are top.

Moving to Montreal in the middle of the pandemic was a unique experience, but the transition was well worth the effort! While my laparoscopic skills greatly improved during my time as the Minimally Invasive Surgery fellow, it has been the mentorship, connections and friendship I gained that will be the most memorable and invaluable as I continue in my career. I cannot thank my PD, Dr. Vassiliou, enough for her support this past year! I am honored to be continuing at McGill as the Bariatric Surgery fellow for the 2021-2022 academic year.

If I were to sum up my entire fellowship experience with one word, it would be "AWESOME" in capital letters. The department staff are all friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about teaching - not just theory but also hands on, practical learning that you don't find in textbooks. At the same time, they showed concern for our well being and were supportive towards enhancing the fellowship experience by allowing me to dabble in my research interests. The other health personnel including nursing, administrative, allied health and doctors from other departments were also a pleasure to work with. I've formed lasting friendships and mentorships with the department and if given the opportunity to reapply, I will pick the same place without hesitation!
