Dr. Barralet is a professor of biomaterials and Director of Research in Orthopaedic Surgery at McGill University, and the Vice-Chair of Research, Department of Surgery, at the McGill University Health Centre. With more than 15 years of academic and industrial experience in biomaterials and nanotechnology, his research interests include tissue regeneration, 3D printed bioceramics, nanomedecine and controlled release of bioactives. He is an active board member of the Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences and of the Canada Local Chapter of the Controlled Release Society, which he established four years ago. He is interested in productive partnerships focused on bringing new innovations to the public. In 2016 he received funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to provide nearly 90 students with cross-disciplinary training to prepare them for high-skill jobs in the surgical devices industry
