Life Cycle of Research Contracts

Research administrators acknowledge that a grant and a contract are different, but the ways in which these differences affect research administration processes is often not clearly understood.

The lifecycle of different types of contracts will be presented, including the negotiation (pre-award) phase, award management, and financial administration.

Guest Speakers

  • Nathan Currier, Associate Director, Contract & Agreements, Office of Sponsored Research (OSR)
  • Marlene Boutet, Associate Director, Awards Management, OSR

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve research administration efforts within the McGill community, the Office of Sponsored Research and Research Financial Management Services are very pleased to announce the launch of the Research Administration Network (RAN) – a new training initiative that will provide opportunities to exchange information and tools required to facilitate research administration at McGill University while also increasing our adaptability to the requirements of our sponsors. Starting in January 2013, RAN sessions will be held monthly.  A variety of “cradle to grave” research administration topics will be offered encompassing proposal development, award management and financial administration.
