Identifying Funding Sources

The Office of Sponsored Research works closely with researchers to help identify potential funding sources for research.

  • Our deadlines listing has a full list of active funding opportunities that can be searched by word or date.
  • The Table of Agency Programs provides an overview of the major funding opportunities offered by federal (Tri-Agency) and provincial (Fonds de recherche du Québec) agencies.
  • For questions or assistance, consult the contact directory. If you are unsure who to contact regarding a funding opportunity, please send your questions to info.osr [at] mcgill.ca (subject: General%20Inquiry%20) , and your message will be directed to the appropriate officer.

External funding databases

Through the McGill Library, faculty members have access to Pivot (formerly COS), a listing of global funding opportunities. Please note this database is only accessible on campus.

Search for public tenders via MERX or from Public Works and Government Services Canada. Please info.osr [at] mcgill.ca (contact the Office of Sponsored Research) for additional information or for access to subscription-only documents.

Proposal Central is an e-grantmaking website shared by various government, non-profit, and private grant-making organizations. In particular, the service acts as a centralized funding database, grant submission, and reviewer portal for many U.S. based life-science and biomedical research sponsors. Researchers are reminded to check the regulatory criteria of each funding opportunity they are interested in to ensure they are eligible to apply.
