More than 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order since its inception in 1967. McGill has over 80 recipients of the Order of Canada. Their appointments have helped to define the national and international reputation of McGill.

One-year extension for the Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation)
McGill’s Board of Governors has extended the current appointment of Professor Martha Crago as Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation) for a one-year period, from June 30, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
The extension will ensure stable leadership of the Research and Innovation portfolio during the upcoming Principal and Vice-Chancellor transition and allow the new Principal to actively participate in selecting Professor Crago’s successor.

Cecile Baccanale joins McGill as University Veterinarian and Associate Vice-Principal, Animal Care
It is my great pleasure to announce that Dr. Cecile Baccanale has accepted the position of McGill University Veterinarian and Associate Vice-Principal, Animal Care. Dr. Baccanale is also appointed Full Professor (Professional) in the Department of Medicine (Division of Experimental Medicine) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her appointment will commence on October 17, 2022.
