Undergraduates

Information for Undergraduates

If you are interested in joining the lab as an undergraduate student (e.g., honours, volunteer, etc.), please send Dr. Palmer an email with your unofficial transcript and a CV attached that describes your research interests, course background, what kind of position you are interested in, and why you wish to join our lab in particular. Because of demand, we cannot unfortunately accept all students. Our selection criteria include:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for cognitive research in how people produce music and speech (even interest in the more tedious data processing tasks)
  • Computer savvy with PCs; familiarity with Linux/Unix, MATLAB, or any specialized programming or statistical skills is a plus
  • Audio-gear savvy; MIDI, sound editing tools, and recording experience are a plus
  • Responsible, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Knowledge of French is a plus
  • Being a friendly team player; most of our research projects are group projects

If you are an enthusiastic can-do person, we want you!
