From the earliest printed illustrations of animals in the Western world, to 19th century watercolours and botanical scrapbooks, the treasures of the Blacker Wood Natural History Collection in the Rare Books & Special Collections department span the histories of biology, ornithology, botany, and early scientific exploration. Join us for a rare chance to marvel at original artwork, field notebooks, and other highlights from one of the largest natural history collections in North America. This tour, organized as part of McGill’s Biodiversity Festival, will be given by Lauren Williams, curator and librarian for the Blacker Wood Natural History Collection.

Registration required. Maximum 20 people for in-person event.

Visite guidée de la Collection d’histoire naturelle Blacker Wood

Des toutes premières illustrations d’animaux imprimées du monde occidental aux aquarelles et albums de collimage botaniques du XIXe siècle, les trésors de la Collection d’histoire naturelle Blacker Wood de notre division des Livres rares et collections spécialisées couvrent l’histoire de la biologie, de l’ornithologie, de la botanique et des premières explorations scientifiques. Profitez de cette rare occasion de vous émerveiller devant plusieurs œuvres originales, cahiers de terrain et autres bijoux de l’une des plus grandes collections d’histoire naturelle d’Amérique du Nord. Cette visite, organisée dans le cadre du Festival de la biodiversité de McGill, se fera en compagnie de Lauren Williams, conservatrice et bibliothécaire pour la Collection d’histoire naturelle Blacker-Wood.

Inscription obligatoire. Événement en personne limité à 20 participants.
