French Language Centre

Students registering for courses offered by the French Language Centre, please also refer to University Regulations and Resources > Summer > Student Types and Registration Procedures > Course Information and Regulations.

French as a Second Language

All French as a Second Language courses given at the French Language Centre have limited enrolment and mandatory placement tests for all students (including Beginners). Students who have already taken a course at the French Language Centre do not need to take the placement test. They can find their recommendation in the dossier Grades on MyCourses and should contact flc [at] mcgill.ca in case of a problem to get a permit to register.

Placement Tests

Please check our website—mcgill.ca/flc—for dates. At the placement test, students will receive a permit so that they can register on Minerva. Students may be required to show a copy of their previous French language course(s) transcript. Credits will not be given to a student who has taken and passed equivalent courses at a CEGEP or another university.
