Password reset for McGill Username - Minerva reset password access ends March 26
As of March 26, 2025, you will no longer be able to reset your McGill username password in Minerva. Password resets will be managed through a single, secure platform using Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) feature to enhance security and better protect your data.
Note: Password resets for Banner/Imaging/Data Warehouse will remain available in Minerva.
Important: To reset your password, you must have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) set up.
How to reset your McGill username password:
- If 2FA is already enabled: Follow the instructions in Reset my McGill password with Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).
- If 2FA is not enabled: First complete the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Setup Instruction. Once 2FA is enabled, proceed with the instructions in Reset my McGill password with Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) .
- If you cannot enable 2FA: Please contact the IT Service Desk for assistance with enabling 2FA or resetting your password manually.
Users with two @mcgill.ca accounts
If you have two McGill usernames (e.g., @mcgill.ca and @mail.mcgill.ca), you will need to reset the password for each account separately.
Retirees and Alumni
If you cannot enable 2FA please contact the IT Service Desk for assistance with enabling 2FA or resetting your password manually.
