Code of Ethics
At McGill Desautels, ethical conduct is foundational to academic excellence and responsible leadership. The Code of Ethics reflects the Faculty’s commitment to fostering a community grounded in integrity, respect and accountability. These values guide how students, faculty and staff engage with one another and the broader world. It establishes clear expectations for professional behaviour, encouraging thoughtful decision making, transparency and respect for diverse perspectives in all academic and professional activities.
Concentration in Ethics
In 2025, Dr. Holmgren founded the McGill Desautels Concentration in Ethics with the help of funding from the LCBEE. The 15 credit Concentration in Ethics provides the foundations to examine and respond to ethics-related questions and problems that exist in management. Topics include, but are not limited to, corporate social responsibility, transparency, compliance, prioritizing product safety, responsible data use, sustainable growth aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and fair labour practices. LCBEE Director Lindsay Holmgren, participating Desautels professors, and the Department of Philosophy have worked in collaboration to ensure that the concentration is richly grounded in ethical concerns.

Laidley Embedded Ethics Seed Grant Program
Embedded Ethics Seed Grants
In 2025, we launched a seed grant program to support faculty in enhancing the ethical dimensions of their courses. Through this program, the Centre offers grants of up to $1,500 to assist faculty in integrating and strengthening ethics-related content within their courses.
Importantly, faculty are required to demonstrate meaningful course revisions, which may be achieved through revised framing, case studies, guest speakers, or other instructional methods that support the discussion and exploration of ethics.
