We are excited to announce the third edition of our Biodiversity Photo Contest, a celebration of the beauty and diversity of all forms of life surrounding us.
Enter the contest for a chance to win an annual passport for the Space for Life museum complex (the Biodôme, the Biosphère, the Insectarium, the Jardin Botanique and the Planétarium) or pairs of tickets to the Gault Nature Reserve.
How to participate
Share your best nature photos taken on McGill campuses, field stations, or during McGill-related activities, or in the open non-McGill category.

#3 McGill’s Landscapes |
This category can include anything from natural or urban settings, from the ground to the sky, or beautiful sceneries and exceptional backgrounds. The only condition: must have been taken at McGill, or during McGill-related activities! |

#4 Beyond McGill |
Open category for photos not taken at McGill or as part of McGill-related activities. |
Submissions are open until Thursday, September 17 at 11:59 p.m. Voting will take place between September 18- 27.
How to submit a photo
- Please submit your photos using your McGill email.
- Name your photo files in the following format: "category number_full name". For example, for a submission in the category McGill's Fauna: "1_John Doe".
- When submitting a photo to the McGill-related categories, please include the photo’s connection to McGill in the description. Photos obviously taken off campus with no clear link mentioned (i.e. fieldwork, field course, etc.) will be excluded or moved to the Beyond McGill category if the participant has not submitted a non-McGill photo.
- Accept the contest’s terms and conditions.
- Click Save to complete your submission.

Eligibility
- The contest is open to all members of the McGill community (students, staff, and faculty).
- Participants can submit up to four photos (one per category). Photos submitted to the McGill categories (McGill’s Fauna, McGill’s Flora, Fungi, and Microorganisms, McGill’s Landscapes) with no clear connection to McGill mentioned in the description (i.e., fieldwork, field course, work-related trip, etc.) will be moved to the Beyond McGill category if the participant has not made a submission to category #4, or will be excluded.
Key dates
- Submit up to 4 photos by Thursday, September 17 at 11:59 p.m.
- Voting will take place between September 18- 27 during the 2027 Biodiversity Festival
- Winners will be announced in the Office of Sustainability’s October newsletter and on our social media in the following weeks.
Prizes
- Category winners: Espace pour la vie Passport (for one person).
- Runners-up: A pair of tickets to the Gault Nature Reserve.
- There is a limit of one prize per participant.
