Depending on your previous education, you will need to take 1, 2 or 3 math courses for your BCom degree. Some students may not need to take any math courses at McGill (i.e. students from Quebec).
All students are required to take a CALCULUS course and a LINEAR ALGEBRA course if they have not been granted these courses upon admission.
- MATH 122. Calculus for Management. or MATH 140. Calculus 1.
- MATH 123. Linear Algebra and Probability. or MATH 133. Linear Algebra and Geometry.
If you receive credit for MATH 140 before starting at McGill or you know that you are expected to receive credit, you cannot take MATH 122; if you do it will be excluded from your credits and GPA. Consult an Academic Advisor for more detailed information as well as the Transfer Credit & Advanced Standing.
Replacement courses
If you plan on pursuing one of the following programs, you will need to take MATH 140, MATH 141and MATH 133 (if you have not been granted these specific math courses upon admission):
- Major Mathematics and Statistics for Management
- Minor Concentration Mathematics
- Minor Concentration Statistics
- Minor Concentration Computer Science
