Biography: 

Vivek is an academic researcher interested in a firm's risk exposure.

He is predominantly an empiricist. Specifically, he collects observational and experimental data and analyzes them using regression and machine learning to test his hypotheses. His research has been published in (among others) Harvard Business Review (HBR; two articles), the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science (JAMS; two), the Journal of Marketing (JM, two), Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM, three), and Production and Operations Management (POM, five).

Vivek teaches in bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and executive education programs at McGill University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Pennsylvania State University.

He is an Associate Editor at the Journal of Operations Management, and a member of the editorial board of Production and Operations Management. He is an "ad hoc" reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business EthicsHuman Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Marketing, and Marketing Science.

Vivek was an assistant professor in the marketing department at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business from July 1, 2018, to May 30, 2023. He has been employed full-time at McGill University since August 1, 2023.

He worked in the information technology industry from 2000 to 2012, writing and selling computer code that automated business processes for telecommunications and semiconductor companies, grocery retailers, retail banks, and hospitals in India, the United States, Canada, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bangladesh. In his last job in the technology industry, Vivek was responsible for the marketing function at a San Francisco-based analytics company.
