About Professor Viviane Yargeau
Viviane Yargeau is a Professor in Chemical Engineering and an Associate Member of the McGill School of Environment. In 2023, she became Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University after serving as chair of her department for 5 years.
She established the Controlling Contaminants of Concern (3Cs) laboratory, which is now internationally recognized for research on the occurrence, fate, and effects of contaminants in the environment and in water and wastewater treatment systems. Professor Yargeau has contributed to creating awareness about the presence and control of contaminants in our water resources as well as the development of wastewater-based epidemiology for illicit drugs.
She has several collaborations internationally, in academia as well as with governmental agencies and the industry. She is a Fellow of International Water Association, serves as Senior Editor of two scientific journals and on the Board of Directors for a publicly traded company commercializing two green products that she co-invented.
