Investigating female inter-individual differences in the balance of cardiac output and vascular resistance to regulate blood pressure during the cold pressor test.


PURPOSE:
The purpose of this study is to examine sex and inter-individual female differences in blood pressure control during a cold pressor test.

WHO:
Young males and females, aged 18-35.

WHAT:
Observational research study. 1 familiarization visit: ~30 mins; 1 test visit: ~1.5 hours. Total time commitment: ~2 hours.

COMPENSATION:
Body composition (fat mass, lean mass, bone density etc.) report via DXA scan valued at $125 CAD.

The relationship between sympathetic outflow and conditioned pain modulation


PURPOSE:
To better understand how sympathetic activity is regulated during a pain protocol

WHO:
Young healthy people, ages 18+

WHAT:
Acute physiological research study (2 visits; 4 hours in total)

COMPENSATION:
Participants will be compensated $50 for their time
