D2R awards $10 million to accelerate RNA-based therapies for rare diseases and cancer
Montreal, March 26, 2025 – McGill University’s DNA to RNA Initiative (D2R) has awarded over $10 million in funding to support three groundbreaking research projects that will advance RNA-based therapies for cancer and rare genetic diseases. The awards were initially announced at the D2R Research Symposium on March 13, 2025.

This week, Saint-Hyacinthe Technopole announced the appointment of Jade Proulx, BSc(FSc)’12, as Director of Agri-Food Innovation and Project Manager for the Saint-Hyacinthe Agri-Food Innovation Zone. Congratulations to Proulx, who has over ten years of experience in agri-food innovation—and got her start on McGill's Macdonald Campus.

2018 Award for Distinguished Teaching
Each year, the students of McGill’s School of Continuing Studies nominate and award instructors with the Award for Distinguished Teaching. This year, instructors Georges Bryson and Dr. Zachary Abram were awarded the 2018 Award for Distinguished Teaching. Their teaching methods, real-world experience and world-class abilities inspired their students to nominate them for the award, one of the highest honours for instructors at the School.
World Champions in Supply Chain Management
It’s official: our Supply Chain and Operations Management students are a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. A team of four students took first place and a €10,000 cash prize at the Final of the Global Student Challenge in Zwolle, the Netherlands.
J. Archibald appointed to the Advisory Board responsible for the Lingua Traduzione Didattica collection
J. Archibald, senior faculty lecturer in translation studies at McGill University, has been appointed to the Advisory Board for a collection on language, translation and language didactics, Lingua Traduzione Didattica, published by FrancoAngeli, an Italian academic publishing house.

McGill University’s new Graduate Certificate in Legal Translation is intended to support current or aspiring professionals and paraprofessionals whose work does or may consist in the bi-or multi-lingual drafting and translation of legal documents used in public, private and parapublic organizations.
L'ACDEAULF Awards Prix d'excellence to Anglais Santé Program
This week, the Association canadienne d’éducation des adultes des universités de langue française (l’ACDEAULF) awarded the Prix d’excellence 2017 under the category of “Établissement” to McGill’s School of Continuing Studies for its “Anglais Santé” program.
This Prize is awarded to a francophone or bilingual Canadian university for a particular achievement or for a contribution aimed at the development of adult education among the French-speaking population.
Prize-winning music producer awarded the McGill Associates Prize in Translation
What range of skills contribute to making a successful translator? According to Jean Massicotte, his understanding of linguistics, science, writing techniques and project management paved the way to success. Massicotte is the 2017 recipient of the McGill Associates Prize in Translation (English-French). He received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when he was awarded a Certificate in Translation in the English to French option.
Accomplished historian awarded the McGill Associates Prize in Translation
Mastering documentation is one of the pathways to translation excellence. Mastering it in more than one language is an added value. Such is the case for Cheryl Smeall, who is the 2017 recipient of the McGill Associates Prize in Translation (French-English). Dr. Smeall received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when she was awarded a Certificate in Translation in the French to English option.
