The Internet represents one of the most powerful tools at our disposal for the collection, manipulation and distribution of information. It is ideally suited for many tasks that would otherwise be quite labour intensive and, with the advent of new technologies for use over the Internet, more tasks can be accomplished with greater speed and efficiency.
Our work already includes the use of multi-agent systems that capitalize on the search and retrieval of genetic information for animals in a specific herd. With the advances in Semantic Web methodology, retrieval takes the form of concepts and overall objectives rather than simple specific tasks and search engines.
