The Fundamentals in Faculty Development Course for Family Medicine Teachers is an 8-module blended learning program introducing clinicians to the basic skills needed by family medicine teachers to become competent medical educators.

The course objectives include the following:

1. Develop fundamental teaching skills in the following areas: the teacher learner relationship, healthy learning environments, fundamental teaching skills, medical curriculum, delivery of effective feedback, assessment of learners, and identification and orientation of learners in difficulty.

2. Understand teaching roles and contribute effectively as an educator within the clinical units, department, and faculty.

3. Integrate the values, mission, and vision of the department of family medicine and the faculty of medicine into daily clinical and teaching activities.

4. Discover an enhanced sense of confidence and pride in your work as a teacher.

5. Promote and reenforce the vitality of our faculty members.

This course follows a blended learning format which means participants engage in interactive online modules, followed by small group meetings to discuss what was learned.
