International Student & Postdoc Funding Opportunities

We encourage all international students to apply for funding. Presented below are some major fellowships specifically dedicated to the support of international studentsFollow the links to learn about each award including: application dates, guidelines, required documents, and forms. Please note that international students may also be eligible for the Trudeau Foundation Scholarships and the Vanier CGS.

The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at McGill provides comprehensive scholarships to academically talented young leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa.

International students in the disciplines of Computer Science and all Engineering with demonstrated financial need may be eligible for Fondation Universitaire Pierre Arbour.

We also encourage you to contact your country's educational authorities as well as Global Affairs Canada to inquire about funding opportunities to study at McGill. Some opportunities available through international agencies can be found here.

Differential Fee Waivers (DFWs) are available to non-Canadian graduate students at McGill University whose visa status requires them to pay full international tuition fees. It covers only the international student supplement.

The Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation Fellowships for Excellence in Graduate Education were created in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Canada-Greece Relations. Preference is given to     incoming Greek citizens.                           

In partnership with McGill University, the China Scholarship Council (CSC) offers scholarships to outstanding Chinese students who will pursue doctoral studies or hold a postdoctoral position at McGill University.

The National Council for Science and Technology of the United Mexican States (CONACYT) partnered with McGill University to co-sponsor Mexican students enrolled in a Master's Research Program                  or PhD at McGill.                         

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and McGill University have established the McGill-UAE Fellowships in Science and                 Engineering.                                                        

The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) is devoted to equipping Arab youth with the knowledge and skills they need to fulfill their promise as the futures leaders of the region.
Please note that the Al Ghurair STEM Scholarships will not be offered at McGill University for new admissions in 2019-2020.

In partnership with McGill University, the Islamic Development Bank "IDB" provides scholarships for citizens of countries which are members of the IDB to attract outstanding academic merit scholars to pursue their PhD studies in the fields of Science and Technology at McGill University.
